About Fagert

Alice Deanne Sbrusch Fagert was born on October 6, 1944, in Beasley, Texas. Known for her compassion and lifelong dedication to students, Mrs. Fagert spent nearly five decades shaping young minds across Lamar CISD.

Mrs. Fagert graduated from Orchard High School in 1962 and went on to study Journalism at Wharton County Junior College. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master’s in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of Houston. Her passion for learning and teaching led her to an extraordinary career that spanned 47 years.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Fagert received several honors recognizing her excellence in education, including:

• Lamar CISD Elementary Teacher of the Year
• Houston Chronicle Golden Apple Award

Her 47 years of education touched countless lives, and her legacy continues to live in the hearts of her students, colleagues, and family.
